NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Howard Harris in Lyrical Abstraction. The exhibition opens March 13, 2018 and runs through April 3,  2018 with an opening reception on Thursday, March 15 from 6-8 pm. Part photography and part sculpture, the remarkable work of American artist Howard Harris is nearly impossible to classify. Harris has said that his aim is to "combine technology and aesthetics in a way that expands the viewer's experience of photographic art." His unique way of image-making begins with a digital photograph. It is abstracted in some way - perhaps the colors are enhanced subtly, or the entire composition is skewed more overtly. Often the photograph is multiplied and layered onto itself, separated by sheets of clear acrylic.   The resulting piece has unexpected depth and movement - the eye dances. Harris has truly found a way to make photography surprising again. The images he chooses to bring to life in this singular way vary greatly. His camera captures animals, architecture, landscapes, and portraiture. No matter what the subject matter, each image is depicted centrally, almost monumentally. Backgrounds and even shadows are stripped away.   Harris was born in Denver, Colorado and today maintains his own home studio in Denver. He has exhibited extensively all around the United States.   Exhibition Dates: March 13 - April 3, 2018 Reception: Thursday March 15, 2018 6-8 PM Gallery Hours: Tues-Sat 11:00am – 6:00pm Gallery Location: 530 West 25th Street, New York, NY Event URL: https://www.agora-gallery.com/artistpage/Howard_Harris.aspx   Featured Artists: Mao Lizi | Howard Harris | Hiroko Saigusa | Clea von Döhren | Alexandra Verbeek | Dana Ingesson | Iftah Geva | Attila Mata   About the Exhibition Lyrical Abstraction Lyrical Abstraction is a renewed inquiry into the spatial questions posed by abstraction.
